Need some help trouble shooting a postfix mail server

I have inherited a postfix server which I'm currently trying to understand.
At the moment I can't get emails to leave our mautic server despite the fact it says 'send success' and at some point emails did leave the server (I have some in my gmail inbox).
I seem to have found the user accounts in virtual_users table on a mysql database but at the moment the config file for the virtual alias's seems to point to a different empty table. I'm trying to figure out if it's simply badly configured because at there is also a virtual_users table which has all the users I understood to exist.
I also see a number of warnings in the /var/log/[login to view URL] i'd like to sort out if possible.
Lastly it looks like our certificate has expired on the server so would appreciate some help in knowing how to update this.
