Girma Awaki
Bio
Girma Awaki started his academic career in a remote area of Jimma zone called Gatira Primary School in 2004. After he had worked for three years there, he won the advanced standing B.A degree competition organized by Jimma University and joined the University to upgrade his professional qualification. Three years later, Girma was graduated with B.Ed. in English Language and Literature from Jimma University in 2010. Soon after graduation, Girma continued his career as a teacher of English Language again at Bako Secondary and Preparatory School which is located in his home town. After three years of work experience, Girma won again the competition of MA program and started his MA education at Addis Ababa University in 2014. And he was graduated from AAU with MA degree in teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) in 2016. After completing his MA program, Girma was employed as a lecturer at Madda Walabu University starting from 24 November 2016 to 08 April 2019. During his stay at the University, Girma had been teaching undergraduate students of different departments and he had been participating in guiding and counselling students. Currently, Girma is working as Assistant Managing Editor of ‘The Ethiopian Journal of Higher Education’ at the Institute of Educational Research, Addis Ababa University. Girma is well experienced and skilled instructor with B.Ed. degree in English Language and MA degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). He has more than 15 years of experience in teaching English Language starting from low levels or primary schools up to universities/higher education institutions. In addition to teaching experience, Girma has a comprehensive knowledge of conducting researches and he is involved in different research activities like working as research assistant, data enumerator, coordinator, data entry and data analysis, and report writing. Besides these, he is working as invigilator, supervisor, and coordinator in the national exams (GAT and Employment Test) and international exams (SAT and ACCA) at the Institute of Educational Research, Addis Ababa University. Generally, Girma is a well experienced person in his academic professions of teaching, journal edition, and conducting research. He is flexible, focused and maintains a calm and professional demeanor at all times, even when working under pressure.
