PhD on Blockchain, Cryptography and IoT

Lam Duc Nguyen is a Ph.D. Fellow at Aalborg University. He obtained Master Degree in Computer Science at Seoul National University, and a Bachelor in Telecommunication at Hanoi University of Science and Technologies in 2018 and 2015, respectively. His research includes Distributed Systems, Blockchain, Smart Contracts, the Internet of Things, and applying Blockchain and Federated Learning to enhance the efficiency of Blockchain-based IoT monitoring Networks. He receives Outstanding Paper Award for the research about scaling Blockchain in Massive IoT at the IEEE World Forum Internet of Things 2020, travel grant from Linux Foundation 2020. He is Hyperledger Member, IEEE Student Member and IEEE ComSoc Student Member. He was a Co-founder of Adu9 - an IoT-based Startup.

Modeling and Analysis of Market Blockchain-based Data Trading in NB-IoT Networks

We introduce a model for DLT-based IoT data trading over the Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) system, intended to support massive environmental sensing. We characterize the communication efficiency of three basic DLT-based IoT data trading protocols via NB-IoT connectivity in terms of latency and energy consumption. The model and analyses of these protocols provide a benchmark for IoT data trading applications.

B-ETS: A Trusted Blockchain-based Emissions Trading System for Vehicle-to-Vehicle Networks

VEHITS 2021

In this study, we propose a new distributed Blockchain-based emissions allowance trading system called B-ETS. This system enables transparent and trustworthy data exchange as well as trading of allowances among vehicles, relying on vehicle-to-vehicle communication. In addition, we introduce an economic incentive-based mechanism that appeals to individual drivers and leads them to modify their driving behavior in order to reduce emissions.
