Data Processing and data mining expert.

Hi, I am a highly productive, well experienced, open minded, good problem solver and have been described productive as a whole department at my last employment at the national archives. I excel in SQL and regular expressions and am capaple of transforming mass amount of data from one format to another in relatively short time. I have even managed to fry my computer with a statistical analysing SQL statement straight from hell. I have also developed a mini-google style search engine with a data-miner that collected miniads from multiple sources. I am looking for projects where I can sell my specialities and work on for a couple of hours at a time since I have reduced stamina due to a heart condition.

Here is a little screenshot just to illustrate the inventory store I made for the National Archives in Iceland. For national security reasons I don't have a copy of the database and can not provide a screenshot of a working copy, but the in-house system has multiple screens and skins and in effect merges multiple databases.
The public records can be accessed at: http://skjalaskrar.skjalasafn.is and refers to documents from political parties, death certificates, court rulings, censuses, property maps, weather monitoring etc.

Let's not forget that it uses an ISO archiving standard which also makes it compatible to "Archives Portal Europe" which you can see at https://www.archivesportaleurope.net/is/directory

My first project at NA involved digitising the national censuses from 1703 until 1920. My work involved creating input interfaces, printout and verification interface for data writers to fix errors, log their workhours, calculating the efficiancy of data writers like words per hour and rate of error (and I managed to fry my computer doing those calculations), creating detailed live printouts and charted reports for supervisors.

Yes, for many people here at freelancer I am their worst nightmare! :D

Ny favorite was normalising of old names allowing searches by modern names. This involved me isolating every single name in the database, getting a data writer to map them to modern names using excel, creating a column in the database holding all variations of that name and searching using that column. It revolutionalised the search results! ;)

National censuses of Iceland

I took part in official project to digitise censuses conducted by the church by designing the system and by maintaining the registration interface. The National Archive's files on church censuses spans roughly 1500 censuses from the mid 18th century until 1960.
This system starts by uploading images of the actual censuses and stores them in a centralised database. It then displays those images in the registration interface where the user can enter the records.

The TNSN Case Client was a program I wrote for the National Solicitors' Network in London City. It was a part of an automated work distribution and reporting system we were developing at the time and it's function was to provide legal work to law-firms in the UK as well as providing status-updates for the clients.
