Appliance Installers transport, unload, and install appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, washers, and dryers. They use various hand tools to install and test appliances and insure that they are working properly. They level stoves, washing machines, and other appliances to make sure that the appliance will work to the best operating standards.

Appliance Installers should have a variety of technical skills including the professional use of hand tools like wrenches, screwdrivers and hammers. An Appliance Installer will be able to fit plumbing hoses for washing machines, dishwashing machines, ice makers, and refrigerators. They will be able to connect gas lines for natural gas and propane stoves, dryers, and water-heaters. They should also be proficient in wiring in hard-wired appliances like dishwashers and hot water heaters.

Appliance Installers must have construction experience for removing and installing cabinets if needed for proper installation of new appliances. They also should be able to accurately measure existing cabinetry and make the necessary adjustments for fitting appliances.

Depending on the state or territory where an Appliance Installer is located, they may be required to be certified or licensed in Appliance Installation. If they are working with gas lines or electrical wiring, they may need to have the proper certification or licensing. Some Appliance Installers may also have a General Contracting license for remodeling kitchen or utility room cabinetry. They may also need a commercial driver's license for operating large delivery trucks or vans. Some states and territories require that Appliance Installers be insured and/or bonded.

A qualified Appliance Installer will possess good communication skills so that they can effectively explain the installation process to the customer. They should be able to show the customer how to operate the appliance after installation.
