I want to make a clone site. I want to show on my news website the most shares content from the top most popular 50 news sites. The list of the the news sites are . Then I want to show the top 10 trending videos on youtube, top 10 trending fan pages on facebook, top 10 shared images on instagram, top 10 pinboards on pinterest. I want this information updated at least once a day. I also want the ability to manually add a news article(s) if I I want to share my own articles on my site. I want to be able to also modify the title of the article links on my site. The website must be responsive and have fast website loading speed.
I have an idea for industry focused news aggregator that updates daily with the styling of a drudge report website.
Using an RSS feed (...be programmed primarily in PHP. Use of js,json,jquery,ajax..etc can be used to increase functionality if needed. The news articles need to come from many different sources (not just from one RSS feed), but I only want quality and highly relevant articles. I'm not sure if RSS is the right approach. I basically want to get content that would appear on a popular news portal site (such as DrudgeReport), but relevant to a search query. Also, the most recent and most relevant articles should appear at the top of the list. For example, if somebody searches microsoft; I want all relevant and recent news articles about microsoft computer company returned. My client is looking for a simple Wordpress-backed design. It will work like the DrudgeReport - a featured/area section up top, and three columns/areas below. Each post will be be placed in area dependent on category selected (e.g. Left, Center, Right). Each link will have the headline (link) and number of comments in parenthesis (smaller font). If post contains an image it will be placed above headline text and auto thumbnailed. When user clicks on the headline link they will be directed to outside source. When user clicks on(Comment #) they will be directed to internal post which contains headline excerpt and comments. Fairly straighforward.
