I need a program that will simulate stock trading based on predicted prices. I have a data analysis program that will produce an output tab-delimited text file. This text file will consist of a time series of an arbitrary number of predictions and actual observations. The program will decide whether to buy, sell, or hold. This decision is based on a series of predicted prices. If it buys or sells, it will do so at the next actual price. The algorithm must calculate whether to buy, sell, or hold based on whether it will be profitable to do so. Profitable may be defined as earning a cash return (after commission) of over $0.01 or by a percentage return. The program will trade at every opportunity to profitably do so, even if that means closing the current position for a loss. The commission will have a fixed component and a variable component, which will be based on the number of shares traded. After the simulation is complete, it must provide an output of the trades that occurred, total profit/loss earned, profit/loss ratio for trades, money spent on commission, average return per trade, and so on. A CSV text file with the raw data so that I may analyze the data by hand to extract such information is preferred. There should also be a simple GUI for loading the data file, naming the outputs, and tracking the progress of the simulation. It is important that this code is well-documented and that I have complete ownership of it. It must be written in a solid, modular manner to allow for easy modification in the future. I understand there we will need to establish more details, so we will need to engage in a specifications process to establish exactly the features and steps I am looking for. Ideally, we can establish an appropriate hourly rate to handle the inevitable additional features or unexpected time it will take for completion. If the work is of exceptional quality, there will be opportunity for more detailed extensions to this project.
