COMP 6032 Programming Basics Lab 3 Converting Coordinates A small lab on user input, validation, loops and using a function. All project groups. Coordinates describe a location on a planet’s surface. The convention is Latitude which is the angular measurement Between -90° (Geographic South Pole) , 0° (Equator) and 90° (Geographic North Pole). -90° and 90° are on opposite sides of the planet. The convention of Longitude is the Angular measurement -180° (Antimeridian), -0° (Prime Meridian) and 180° (Antimeridian). -180° and 180° are actually the same angular measurement depending if you travel east from The Prime Meridian + or travel West from The Prime Meridian -. These two values combined with elevation can describe any location on the planet. But the schema for their notation can vary. The location 21°, 30’, 00’’ N, 30°, 30’, 0’’ W IS THE SAME AS +21.5°,-30.5° There are 60 minutes in a degree and 60 seconds to a minute. There are 3600 seconds to the degree. Can you write an application that converts decimal degrees into Degrees Minutes and Seconds? 1. Play with the application called Coordinate_Converter 2. Grab the function that converts decimal degrees to degrees minutes and seconds from Coordinate_Coversion (Week 3). Refactor the function as you see fit for your own project. 3. Your application will state your name and student number at the beginning. It will prompt the user for the input of the latitude as a decimal from +90.00 to -90.00 and then the Longitude from -180.0 to +180.00 4. It will handle improper coordinates like +91° or - 181° 5. It will not crash if I type cnsjkvdsnvjksd an input. 6. It will quit and end if the user types “Q” when prompted. 7. It will behave in a manner similar to my example code.
