The script takes as input a CSV [login to view URL], which represents a financial time series for a futures contract. It outputs the same file to a new directory "OutputDirectory", but appended with a new field which represents the delivery month:
1) The first line is a a header, which will look something like this:
Date,Time,Open,High,Low,Close,Volume
This needs to be changed to
Date,Time,Open,High,Low,Close,Volume, Delivery Month (YYYYMM)
2) We need to first work out the delivery month. This can be discovered from the file name. The file name will look something like @VXF10_5.csv. The crucial part is the final letter and number "F10".
The F represents the month - see [login to view URL]
The 10 represents the year.
Thus for @VXF10_5.csv. our delivery month should be 201001
For @[login to view URL] our delivery month should be 201406
Each line of the file represents the data: e.g:
20090618,0955,30.10,30.10,30.10,30.10,1
We simply need to append each line with the correct delivery month!
Voila!
Thanks.

nice quickie to work on... :) Might really not matter here, but generally it would be a good thing to mention on what OS platform you intend to run the script. Thank you.

This should be a simple task which can be handle in 2 works hours. We just simply add another columm so we don't even need extra modules to handle CVS but diamond operator (`<>`) and `regex`.
I can deliver this within 2 days, most of time to discuss with you to see if you have any special modification neeed.

Hi, expert web/data scraper here with over 17 years experience in programming and RDBMS - please see my reviews.
I'm using Perl for this kind of jobs.
I'm able to extract data fast.
Experienced shell script writer, I write dozens of scripts each month for client work and have written similar generic file handling scripts to the one you are looking to validate. Confident I can validate this for you quickly within a day.
My previous experience involved analysis of call records in text files and extracting useful information.
I am confident I will be able to extract information from the filenames and append the information in the text within the required time frame.
In my previous projects I have used perl, java, javascript, jquery, html, css, c#. For this task, perl would be my prefered programming language. The solution could be web based or command line based.
Feel free to contact me on my skype id: "bonomalim" if you want more info.
Hi,
I did things like that previously, e.g. to validate the VAT ID for European b2b customers and add the results. The task is rather easy.
Script would be called by a cron job and requires some perl libs.
