Work 2 magnetic circuit readers from 1 magnetic head reader

i have 2 devices that need a reading from a magnetic stripe card. I cut the wires that go to the magnetic reader head and attached the corresponding wires so as to make 1 common head reader insead of two. If you are confused by what I mean, please take a look at the attached picture for an illustration. note: these two devices work totally idependent of eachother (different power sources etc). I just need to make it so they have the same reader head. In theory what I expected to happen, was the reading goes to both the devices. And it does, the problem is that on one of the devices the reading shows "error - please swipe again" most of the time. On a rare occasion, when i swipe it at a slower speed the reading comes out fine. If i attach the same head on each device seperatly it works perfectly.
