Add Slider to Drupal 6 Theme

I have a drupal 6 website that needs the header converted into a slider. I want the theme duplicated in the themes folder and the work done without affecting the existing site. When the slider has been added and looks good - I will move it over and make it default theme. I also need a block added to the site on the right side and some text to sit permanently over the top of the slider as the images change behind it. Once someone has been selected I'll upload the list of tasks - about 3 or 4 tasks and I think it shoudl only take someone about half a day if they know drupal and CSS and themes.
