A small javascript based project based around the use of a client side cookie system to display different image files on a web page. The concept revolves around displaying a different image according to whether the user has been referred to the website from specific locations in the past. In order to present differing content based on media channel criteria. Brief Functional specification: Check and set a cookie on the client machine based on referrer criteria. Referrer criteria based on analysis of the referring domain. Allow the cross-reference of the domain returned to be checked against an exclude or include list of domains. Implement configuration switch to set cookie if 1. Referring domain is on list of include referrers. OR 2. Not set a cookie if domain is on list of exclude referrers. Plus always not set a cookie if domain is self, blank or bookmark. Domain definition is to include domains, subdomains and path if present in list. But is not to include the filename nor query string. Must be possible to collate/collect lists from either a remote or local source. Based on the results specifically create the cookie on the client machine Display differing on page images based around the absence or presence of the client cookie.
