For our new d3.js project we are currently seeking a skillful programmer to develop a proof of concept for us. In short, the aim is to find a way of displaying large and editable static force directed networks (50 000 nodes and more) while ensuring adequate browser performance using a combination of d3.js, PHP and MySQL.\r\n\r\nOne approach may include reducing the total number of client-side nodes and links by loading only a sub-selection of the network\'s total nodes and links stored in an underlying database depending on the user\'s navigation within the network (navigation buttons and/or drag and drop). Client-side nodes that are no longer needed (i.e. those outside the user\'s browser window) are removed.\r\n\r\nThis is a challenging project and we encourage only programmers with sufficient knowledge of d3.js, jQuery, PHP and MySQL to apply. Experience in node.js and meteor is not required but would be of advantage particularly for future job opportunities at later stages of the project. Fluency in English required.\r\nAfter we have considered your application we will send you a message with our decision to hire you or not. \r\n\r\nExpectations:\r\n- After you have applied and we consider you suitable for our project you will be provided with more details of the approach outlined above. However, suggestions for alternative approaches which may also involve meteor or node.js are more than welcome.\r\n- Based on above approach (or any alternative approach you may have) we will ask for an initial discussion with you where we will set down specific milestones we would like you to achieve.\r\n- We will expect you to provide regular feedback and potentially also online demos of your progress at least three times a week.\r\n- We will require you to produce a well documented and commented code to ensure quick progress afterwards.\r\n\r\nBenefits:\r\n- This is a continuing project and will require further work in the near future. If we are satisfied with the quality of your work you will likely receive further offers by us.\r\n- Access to a growing project library with ebooks relating to d3.js, jQuery and information sciences.\r\n
