Use GMAIL API. I don't have experience. Idea#2. Use Outlook. Let the program communicate with Outlook through COM component. It doesn't need outlook opening, but need it installed on your windows PC. * The gmail account will need to added to your outlook. * It's better if the account is default account of outlook. * Programming language is C#, don't need to use third part library. Idea#3. Use Selenium to do web automation. * Programming language is C#, as I said, need to use Selenium Framework. But it's free. * Selenium will open a browser, then control the browser, I will use ChromeDriver. So you need to install Chrome on your PC. * The browser window will keep opening, the program will check the window in a regular basis, such as per minute. Will do this by writing a daemon script work as background process which will fetch new email But few questions before we move forward? Can anyone create a program which will check a Gmail account for new emails from a particular address and save the contents of the email into a text document? --i understand to save new emails content in text document , but do tell me the directory structure or will it be dynamic? Emails from this address are coming couple of times a day. Whenever a new email is coming, the contents of the text document should be replaced. --email content should be replaced with what and where is will be later saved? I hope you will reply ASAP. However, I do have some questions: - how often the application will run? should it run by a specific schedule? - what happens with the txt file in which the emails would be dumped? - the txt file should have a specific format? - why do you need this kind of application?
