My approach to testing is to start with the technical or functional specification and make sure I understand the requirements. If no requirements exist I would use exploratory testing to document the process. I would also set up a test script, in other words I plan and document each facet or step that needs testing, if necessary and if time permits. First I check the look and feel of the website/system/app. In other words, I take care to look at the aesthetics and also make sure look and feel is consistent throughout the website. I do Manual Functional testing according to planning or test script and or Exploratory testing. I also check the process flow and make suggestions to improve the end User experience. In addition, I check the user interface for Spelling and Grammar mistakes as well as language. Most importantly I test for weaknesses or bugs in the system.
