Hinduism is the predominant religious tradition[1] of the Indian subcontinent. Among its roots is the historical Vedic religion of Iron Age India, and as such Hinduism is often called the "oldest living religion"[3] or the "oldest living major tradition".[4][5][6][7] Hinduism is formed of diverse traditions and has no single founder.[8] Hinduism is the world's third largest religion after Christianity and Islam, with approximately one billion adherents, of whom approximately 905 million live in India.[9] Other countries with large Hindu populations can be found across southern Asia. Hinduism was not called hinduism in pre historic times. It is a new name given to the SANATAN DHARMA. Now the question arises where does SANATAN DHARMA got its name HINDUISM? Hindū is the Persian name for the Indus River, first encountered in the Old Persian word Hindu corresponding to Vedic Sanskrit Sindhu, the Indus River. The Rig Veda mentions the land of the Indo-Aryans as Sapta Sindhu (the land of the seven rivers in northwestern South Asia, one of them being the Indus). The term was used for those who lived in the Indian subcontinent on or beyond the "Sindhu".In Arabic, the term al-Hind (the Hind) also refers to 'the land of the people of modern day India'. The Persian entered India with the Delhi Sultanate and appears in South Indian and Kashmiri texts from at least 1323 CEand increasingly so during British rule. Since the end of the 18th century the word has been used as an umbrella term for most of the religious, spiritual, and philosophical traditions of the sub-continent, usually excluding the religions of Sikhism, Buddhism, and Jainism as distinct. The term Hinduism was introduced by the English people to denote the religious, philosophical, and cultural traditions native to India. WHAT IS THE CONCEPT OF GOD IN SANATAN DHARMA OR HINDUISM?? Unlike other religion in this globe, Sanatan Dharma has no particular founder. While other religions stick to their concept of one god , Hinduism believes on the concept of three godely figures - BRAHMA,VISHNU AND MAHESHWAR(SHIVA) In the scriptures Brahma is reffered as creater , Vishnu as preserver and Shiva as destroyer and it is said that everything in this universe is god. Now moving away from HInduism let us focus on science and let us go back to the structure of atom which is the basic unit of all matter. An atom consists of three particles namely- PROTON,NEUTRON AND ELECTRON. In which a proton is a positively charged particle , neutron is neutral paricle and electron a negatively charged particle. Vishnu is preserver. The destruction and creation is carried by preservation which is a neutal process. As Hinduism says everything is made up of god and Science says everthing is made up of atom. hinduism says god is BRAHMA,VISNHU AND SHIVA and Science says atom is of PROTON,NEUTRON AND ELECTRON. If we mix science with Hinduism we can eaily say that GOD IS ATOM OR ATOM IS GOD.
