For the Institute of Law & Economics at the University of St. Gallen we are looking for a solution to convert PDF documents into HTML. We are looking for someone to convert a scientific journal and books, containing approximately 16,000 pages, from PDF to HTML format. The project consists of 20 books and the scientific journal over 20 years. The goal is to make the content searchable, enhance its readability, and store it as HTML in a knowledge database. The PDF contains footnotes that should also appear as superscript in the text in the HTML. The content of the footnotes should appear at the end of the HTML, preferably as a link to the referenced footnote in the text. Please also note that umlauts should be displayed correctly in the HTML. Your responsibilities will include: - Converting the entire journal and Book to HTML format while applying consistent styling - Ensure that the HTML results in consistently formatted, easy to read and searchable continuous text - Provide the HTML so that it can be imported into a knowledge database. -A programme or script that can also be used to convert the journal and books in the future is preferred Ideal candidates should have experience in: - Bulk PDF conversion, especially for large documents like scientific articles - Applying consistent styling across lengthy documents - Knowledge of techniques to ensure content is searchable and readable in HTML format An example PDF which is to be converted to HTML is attached.
