I need a specific formula for an excel sheet im working on

We have a forumula to look add numbers if a certain word appears to the left of the number. The forumla is too long and I can only make use of it for a set number of columns. We need an advanced look up formula which performs the same function but much shorter in length. Let's work on this formula? We could create a function through VBA to make it simpler. But still we could use other ways to get lighter. I believe that this formula, if it is in many cells, should weigh the file. Can we talk abou it?
