I have solid experience in Java programming, including object oriented analysis, design and programming. Using Lisp I created some personal toy languages and am currently writing a CMS. I learned it from the ground up, using the famous "Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs", "Practical Common Lisp" and Paul Graham's "On Lisp". I also have knowledge of (purely) functional, acquired with the Haskell programming language and my strong background in writing maintainable, good and modern C++ code. Therefore, I am able to convert your simple Java program into a Lisp program, either keeping to the rather object oriented approach that's common for Java code, or introducing the more functional style of the "Lisp Way". I would implement the code on CLISP, but keep to standard Common Lisp to keep the code portable across Lisp implementations. I've worked on complicated problems (such as defining different parameter passing methods, defining and using amb) in lisp, mainly in Scheme but I started off with Common Lisp. My main language is currently Java, so won't have any problems understanding your current code.
