I'm in urgent need of a Linux Sysadmin who can dive deep into the digital trenches to keep my servers running smoothly, securely, and efficiently. My priorities are clear: I need someone who isn't just familiar but is an expert with Ubuntu and Debian. You'll be the frontline defense and the architect of our system's stability and security. You will be working in a Web & Game hosting service provider environment. **Key Responsibilities:** - **Server Configuration:** Setting up and configuring servers from scratch, ensuring optimal performance for applications. - **Security Hardening:** Implementing best practices and cutting-edge strategies to fortify server defenses against potential threats. - **System Monitoring:** Constant vigilance over system performance, identifying, and resolving issues before they escalate. - **Firewall Configuration & Hardening:** Building an impenetrable wall of defense to safeguard our data from unauthorized access. - **System Maintenance:** Regular updates, patches, and maintenance activities to ensure the smooth running of operations. **Hardware Specifics:** Yes, there are specific hardware requirements. While I don't expect you to build the hardware from scratch, having a strong foundation in configuring and optimizing Linux servers on specialized hardware is crucial. **Ideal Skills and Experience:** - Proficient in Ubuntu and Debian environments. - Demonstrated experience in server configuration, security hardening (including firewall setup), system monitoring, and maintenance. - Familiarity with hardware-specific configurations and optimizations. - Familiarity with XDP Filtering - Experience working with docker containers / virtualization - Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. - Excellent communication skills to report on system status and coordinate with our team for any required interventions. Hi, I'm not a bot.. You missed something, monitor the applications and services running in the server. Linux is a safe environment, almost impenetrable, the firewall will block the services ports, but you might need to have few ports open to the public network. Said that, if a particular application/service is vulnerable then it can be a big church open door to allow intruses to get in the system, even if they are able to scan our system it will be isolated to that particular environment, that's one reason of why we use Dockers. I will be happy to assist you, but sadly I can't offer you a full time support because I have other jobs and projects; In my experience a server maintenance and support won't need more than 2 hours per day(distributed in the whole day of course) If this sounds good for you then we can reach a talk.
