We are looking for an experienced system administrator or server architect to set up a distributed server environment for our vBulletin forum. The goal is to separate the web server, database server, and image server for improved performance, scalability, and security. Responsibilities: Web Server (Server 1): Install and configure vBulletin on the web server. Ensure proper synchronization of vBulletin files across the server cluster. Database Server (Server 2): Set up and configure MySQL or another database server. Create and configure a database for vBulletin. Establish secure communication between the web server and the database server. Image Server (Server 3): Configure the image server to serve static files, including vBulletin images. Update vBulletin configuration to use the image server for serving images. File System Setup: Implement a reliable file synchronization method across the web server cluster. Load Balancing (Optional): Implement load balancing to distribute incoming requests across multiple web servers. Security Measures: Configure firewalls on each server to allow only necessary traffic. Implement security best practices for all servers. Backup and Recovery: Establish regular backup procedures for both the database and files. Test backups regularly to ensure successful restoration. Performance Monitoring: Implement monitoring tools to track the performance of each server. Skills Required: System Administration: Experience with Linux server administration. Proficiency in configuring web servers (e.g., Apache, Nginx). Knowledge of database server setup and maintenance. Networking: Understanding of network configurations and security. vBulletin Expertise: Previous experience with vBulletin forum software. Security: Knowledge of security best practices for server setups. Load Balancing (Optional): Experience with load balancing technologies (e.g., HAProxy, Nginx Load Balancer).
