HI! I am an Uruguayan translator too, and it seems like we are the only ones that consider 0.25 per 100 words an insult. I don´t want to hurt other freelancers feelings but if you bid on this project you do not value yourselves. Please, do not tell me that you are struggling in your country because I live in the third world too!!! Note: I work on a basis of USD 0.015 per word.

My bid and turnaround time (12 business days) is based on the translation of 10,000 words. I am open to discuss a faster turnaround time (if needed). I am new to Freelancer, though not new to freelancing. I am 100% bilingual, I have lived in Spanish speaking countries for over 17 years, and have over 10 years of experience in the EFL field (English as a foreign language). If you would like to see a sample of my performance, I will gladly accept a sample of what you are needing to have translated in order for you to have it evaluated. Dear Sir/Madam, allow me to do the Math for you, me and my fellow freelancers: USD 0.25 per 100 words means USD 2.5 per thousand words. I don't know about my fellow freelancers who posted a real bid here, but I can translate about 250-400 words an hour. That means, with your rate, I would be earning 1 DOLLAR AN HOUR, MAX!!!! And that's if I'm really fast! WOW, all that money after more than 12 years studying for a degree and 10 years of experience!!! I'd better off start a cleaning service, since a cleaning lady here in my country charges about 2 dollars an hour (if you can find someone cheap) PLEASE FELLOW FREELANCERS, TAKE YOURSELVES A LITTLE BIT SERIOUSLY...
